Collecting Payment for more than the Invoice Total?
In SuccessWare21 you can enter a payment that is more than the total amount of the Invoice and the difference will go as a deposit on the account. However, In Mobile Technician, the tech out in the field cannot collect more than the total amount of the Invoice. I had a couple of customers ask me is it possible to collect a deposit for future work while the tech is onsite, yet not have the item be added to the invoice and affect sales, commission, compensation, etc. for that tech? In short,…

Auditing / Posting material requisitions from the technician’s handhelds and updating job costing.
Below is a step-by step guide on how to post material requisitions in SuccessWare21 that were created by
technicians out in the field using SWRemote. Also, after posting the inventory
transaction I will cover how to go into the invoice screen and cost out the
material to the job.
1.) First, Open the Inventory Manager (21 Button – Purchasing – Inventory Manager)
2.) Secondly, click on a transaction to open it.…

Building Parts Kits for Jobs
Now that Mobile Technician will load up any assigned parts to tasks that are added to an Invoice you now have the ability to create kits ahead of time for jobs inside SuccessWare21, and then allow your techs to edit the kits out in the field. This way you can identify all of the parts the techs may need for an individual job, and then allow the technicians to remove any items that they may not have used right at the job site. This will enable to you to get accurate material requisitions and…

Clever way to cost out consumables to a Job:
This past week as I was working with a customer setting up their warehouse and inventory movement structure and a common question came up; How do my technicians and installers identify the consumables they use on a job? Now I know most companies aren’t bar-coding strips of Duct Tape or ½ cans of sealant, but there are some ways where we can still identify the consumables they use from a cost standpoint, and also hold the technician more accountable for what’s on their trucks.
At this…

Did the Credit Card go Through?
Important Question. One quick way to confirm the credit card taken through SWRemote went through is to open the Applied Payments button in the invoice in SuccessWare21 and look for the authorizations. A credit card payment that successfully was charged using SWRemote will have both a Payment Pre-Authorization and a Payment Authorization filled in. Please note: the authorizations are sent over from SWRemote when the technician closes the job, so make sure the tech is out of the call before…

What if there is a Pre-Authorization but no Payment Authorization on Credit Card Payment?
In the rare instance where the Pre-Auth was sent but not the Payment-Auth then that means one of two things: (1) Either the technician hasn’t completed the call so the information wasn’t sent yet, or (2) the tech lost connectivity in the short time between capturing the payment and closing the job. For the first instance, confirm the call is complete, if it is then it is most likely a loss of connectivity. When the technician loses connectivity the link to the real- time payment processing…

How do I Continue a Job using SWRemote and SuccessWare21?
I thought I’d start with a question I hear from our current customers quite often, and one that, frankly, most SWRemote users see every day. They ask, “Greg, my technician was out on a call today and sold a job but didn’t do the actual work, now it’s scheduled for the next day / next week, how would I continue this job so the summary and revenue is on one ticket for reporting?” Simple enough right? Yes, but depending on a few follow up questions I in turn ask of them there ends up being a…
